The taste of Czech Christmas

Experience the many flavors of Czech Christmas. This Christmas tour begins with a cup of hot mulled wine scented with cinnamon and cardamom, which will warm your hands as you walk through the snow-covered streets of the city. The guided tour will introduce you to the interesting facts of Krumlov's history and give you an insight into the rich tradition of Christmas celebrations. You can look forward to a traditional Christmas Eve dinner. The old Bohemian tavern will smell of fried carp steak and vanilla scented Christmas cookies. You will enjoy a portion of traditional Czech potato salad by candlelight, in the atmosphere of Christmas carols, and your Christmas experience will be enhanced by old Bohemian Christmas Eve traditions.

What's on the Menu

• Cup of hot mulled wine,. Traditional mulled wine consists of red wine that is heated with a mix of whole warming spices

• Fried breaded fish with Czech potato salad. Traditional Czech carp with potato salad made out of potatoes, pickles, boiled eggs, mustard and onion and flavored with mayo.

• Czech Christmas cookies. Traditional Czech Christmas Cookies made out of spiced nut dough.

The Tour's recipe

The city tour combines the history of the city with the history of Christmas and the development of Czech Christmas traditions and customs. You can look forward to visiting the most picturesque places in Krumlov: a walk through the painted castle courtyards with a bear moat, the Mantle Bridge, visit to the monastery courtyard with craft markets, Latrán Street and the artists' alley, Náplavka embankment of the Vltava river, Barbe's bridge, Svornosti square with traditional Christmas markets, wooden nativity scene and a large Christmas tree, the interior of the church of St. Vitus, former Jesuit garden with a panoramic view of the Krumlov castle.

• Learn the history and present of the city, the details of the city's architecture and the stories of Krumlov's personalities.
• Find out the origin of Christmas and the way our ancestors, people in villages, towns and chateau courtyards celebrated it.
  
• Visit the most beautiful places in Český Krumlov and feel their Genia Loci.
